Location at Threemile Vineyard: block H

Notes from Viticulturist

As a warm season cultivar, the Cabernet Sauvignon planted at Threemile challenges us to showcase just how hot we can cook in The Dalles. As the cultivar that requires the most heat out of all of our grapes, it has been planted in block H, consistently the hottest block at the vineyard.

Knowing with climate change that every growing region is likely to increase in heat units over time, this is our preparatory measure to grow a cultivar that will have the capacity to tolerate more heat in the future. It cannot be overlooked that The Dalles could become the future Napa Valley.
