Notes from Viticulturist

As a warm season cultivar, Grenache’s ideal climate growing data paralleled more so than any other cultivar planted at Threemile. This grape is exciting in that it is newer to our growing region, and a bit of an up-and-comer for Oregonian and Washington winemakers.

While we have plenty of French reds planted, we wanted to ensure diversity with Spanish reds as well. Viticulturist Joe notes that this is the most challenging grape he has ever grown based on its finicky and immediate needs during the growing season. This highly sought after grape presents a welcomed challenge to the farm.
